Yoga Equipment
Yoga equipment consists of very few things; clothing and
a mat. The practice of yoga promotes non-attachment to objects and that
is why very few things are needed to participate in a session. It is
through non-attachment that those who practice yoga learn to separate
themselves from fears and false identities.
Yoga equipment can be purchased nearly anywhere. Most gym attire is
appropriate for a session. Clothing should allow free movement because
of the nature of some of the poses. While there is not a specific dress
code, some things to take into consideration are: clothing made from
cotton as it helps absorb sweat, wearing shorts is helpful to make sure
their hips, knees and ankles are in alignment, and for women, sports
bras are recommended.
Yoga equipment doesn’t have to be purchased at a specific store.
There are some people who join in the practice of yoga who also like
to promote a healthy environment; therefore, make purchasing decisions
based off what is best for the environment. While eco-friendly or organic
products may be more expensive, they help to preserve the environment
making the world a better place.
