It is used to soothe the body, elevate the mind, and bring those in the practice to an altered state of consciousness.

Yoga music portrays nonverbal messages. When choosing music for a session, it is important to pay attention to specific details. Make sure that music is created with a positive attitude with a higher inspiration in mind, many people also prefer the musician to be a master of his instrument. Music helps create an inspiring atmosphere giving relief to those involved in the practice by offering a way to relieve them of their daily trials.
